‘Der Ringgeneral’ awaits Cena in Washington.
John Cena’s legendary WWE career will come to an end on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., where he will face former World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.
Appearing on First Take with Stephen A. Smith, GUNTHER said he views his upcoming match with Cena as a passing of the torch moment in WWE.
“Traditionally, it’s always a passing of the torch when somebody really established retires and gets in the ring with somebody from a different generation. I think John Cena represents a certain generation of WWE superstars, and I represent the newer generation. I think a lot has changed in WWE. It’s a very international roster now, very diverse, and I think I represent that very well. So in that sense, it definitely is a passing of the torch for the future.”

GUNTHER earned the opportunity to face Cena in his final match by winning The Last Time is Now tournament, defeating Je’Von Evans, Carmelo Hayes, Solo Sikoa and finally LA Knight to secure his chance to retire another all time great.
Elsewhere during the interview, GUNTHER revealed that he hated seeing John Cena on TV when he first started wrestling. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Saturday Night’s Main Event as soon as we hear more.
