CMLL announced two more matches for their Lucha Kingdom show that they will be co-producing with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

When El Desperado was ruled out of Lucha Kingdom through injury, Mistico was left without an opponent. In response, Shun Skywalker teased taking on the star instead, however we now know that isn’t the case. While Mistico won’t in fact be taking on the ever-trolling Shun Skywalker, the match in its place is certainly packed to the brim with star power.

The biggest luchador in the world will team up with Ultimo Guerrero against NJPW’s Hirooki Goto and Yota Tsuji in what is expected to be the main event. In a video presented during CMLL’s show on Tuesday night, Goto expressed his excitement for heading to Mexico.

“Hello, fans in Mexico! I’m Hirooki Goto from New Japan Pro Wrestling. I’m happy to be back at Arena Mexico after so many years, and especially to be able to compete at Lucha Kingdom. Follow the Goto Revolution in Mexico, too!”

-Hirooki Goto

It has been 15 years since Goto has wrestled at Arena Mexico, where he previously spent his excursion in the mid 2000s. During his last trip to the cathedral of Lucha Libre, Goto wrestled mostly with rudos, and ended his tour with a failed challenge at Ultimo Guerrero’s CMLL World Heavyweight Championship.

Joining Goto is the reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Yota Tsuji, who also spent his excursion with the Mexican promotion.

Another match that CMLL announced for the show is Barbaro Cavernario vs. Konosuke Takeshita. Not only will this be the first singles match between these two super talented wrestlers, it’ll be their first match in any capacity.

The former AEW International Champion has wrestled four times in Arena Mexico, all dating back to the past year and a half. His NEVER Openweight Championship match vs. Angel de Oro was a tremendously notable match when it happened in February last year because it was a rare Arena Mexico match with blood.

With those two matches added, here is the full card:

  • Black Tiger, KUSHIDA, Shoma Kato, & Yutani vs. El Galeon Fantasma (Barboza, Difunto, Furia Roja, & Zandokan Jr.)
  • House of Torture (SHO & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) vs. La Fuerza Poblana (Guerrero Maya Jr. & Xelhua)
  • Master Wato, Okamura, & YOH vs. Brillante Jr., Capitan Suicida, & Rey Pegasus
  • NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championships: Los Hermanos Chavez (Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja) (c) vs. United Empire (Francesco Akira & Templario) vs. Unbound Co. (Taiji Ishimori & Titan)
  • IWGP Women’s Championship: Syuri (c) vs. Kira
  • Barbaro Cavernario vs. Konosuke Takeshita
  • CMLL World Heavyweight Championship: Hechicero (c) vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
  • Mistico & Ultimo Guerrero vs. Hirooki Goto & Yota Tsuji
