Homare Wins Open The Brave Gate Title

Dragongate has a new Open The Brave Gate Champion.
After beating KAGETORA, GuC, and finally Dragon Kid on Thursday, Homare is the 57th Open the Brave Gate Champion. The 22-year-old shocked much the Dragongate fan base after he planted the legend Dragon Kid with a Firebird Splash to win his first piece of singles gold of his career in 17:33.
This is easily Homare’s biggest career achievement since he left the shadow of his longtime protege, Shun Skywalker. The man who debuted as a rookie and joined the company’s heel on the same day was always seen as a follower to someone, mostly Skywalker, so him winning this belt is a genuinely massive accomplishment.
Prior to this moment, Homare’s other biggest moment came early last year when he and Skywalker somehow defeated both JACKYRiiita and Minolee in the same night to win the 2025 Rey De Parejas. It seemed following that show that Homare was destined to be one of the key guys in DG’s future. While it might have taken longer than most would’ve suspected, that plan is seemingly back on track now.
The good news regarding Homare’s future prospect with this belt is that his fellow XENOSTAL NOVA partner and friend, Ryoya Tanaka, happens to have had the greatest reign in the belt’s history. His one reign was the second longest of all time at 427 days and his 12 defenses is currently the most. So if Homare needs any pointers, he’s got the best possible person to turn to.
