HBK told Jayne she’d earned the NXT Women’s Championship.
On May 27, Jacy Jayne shockingly defeated Stephanie Vaquer to capture the NXT Women’s Championship, a title she still holds to this day.
In a new interview with The Takedown on SI, Jayne recalled the conversation she had with Shawn Michaels following the victory, noting that the WWE Hall of Famer told her not to overthink things and just enjoy the moment.
“I remember when I won the title, I came to the back and I was like, ‘How was the match, did you like the match, what can I do better, what didn’t you like?’ Just asking annoying questions I guess. He was like, ‘I want you to stop thinking, turn your brain off, please at least try to enjoy this moment. I need you to enjoy this ride because you worked really hard for it and you’re an overthinker and I need you to not be an overthinker and really just have fun with this.’ I definitely overthink every minor detail and he knows that, so him telling me [to] chill out, I need that sometimes.”

Jacy Jayne is set to defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Tatum Paxley at NXT Halloween Havoc on October 25 at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
