Referees belong in WWE’s Hall of Fame according to JBL.

On 10 October, legendary referee Mike Chioda appeared on former WWE Superstar Maven’s YouTube channel, where he made the case for referees to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Speaking on Something To Wrestle, WWE Hall of Famer JBL voiced his strong agreement with Chioda and offered a list of referees he believes deserve Hall of Fame consideration.

“I’m 100% with Chioda here. I think Chioda should be in the Hall of Fame. 100%. Earl Hebner should be in the Hall of Fame. Joey Marella should be in the Hall of Fame. Korderas… Nick Patrick, my God, man. Charles should be in there as well. These guys are as important as the boys. A good referee, you don’t think a good referee is important? Have a shitty referee, and you find out real quick how important a good referee is. These guys were awesome referees. 100% they should be in the Hall of Fame.”

JBL went on to suggest that the absence of referees in the WWE Hall of Fame may stem from Vince McMahon’s long-held belief that officials shouldn’t have distinct identities and should simply blend into the background. With McMahon no longer at the helm, it remains to be seen whether WWE will consider honouring some of the referees mentioned in the years ahead.

So far, WWE has confirmed that Stephanie McMahon will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next year as part of the Class of 2026.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the prospect of referees being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as soon as we hear more.
