Legendary wrestler and commentator Jerry Lawlor is seemingly no longer with WWE.
To many fans, Jerry Lawler is remembered as part of the commentary team to some of WWE’s most iconic moments, whether it be alongside Jim Ross during the Attitude Era or sat with Michael Cole during the Ruthless Aggression and PG Eras. Lawlor’s appearances have become increasingly sporadic over recent years, and it now appears as though his tenure as a member of WWE’s broadcast team has come to an end.
PWInsider are now reporting that Lawlor is no longer with WWE following the expiration of his broadcast contract, with the company not opting to extend his deal.
“WWE Hall of Famer and one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, Jerry Lawler is no longer with World Wrestling Entertainment, PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources. PWInsider.com is told that WWE quietly declined to renew Lawler’s broadcast contract, ending a relationship between the two that began back in December 1992 when he shockingly appeared on an episode of WWF Prime Time Wrestling. Sources close to the matter have confirmed Lawler’s WWE contract expired at the onset of 2024.”

Additionally, the report notes that Lawler’s departure has been met with surprise amongst those that spoke to PWInsider, with one source reportedly claiming the following:
“The old company is dead. People can say they hate Vince [McMahon] and Kevin [Dunn] all they want, and they’d be right to do so, but certain people would have been taken care of. Lawler would have been one, but this isn’t the old WWE. Howard Finkel, God bless him, wouldn’t have had a job for life here anymore, either.”
It is worth noting, however, that shortly after the report was published, a WWE source reached out to PWInsider to state that Lawler would still be under a WWE Legends deal.
With his contract having expired, Lawler is now technically free to sign elsewhere, although given his health issues, it’s unclear as to whether this is something the WWE Hall of Famer would consider pursuing.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Jerry Lawler as soon as we hear more.
