The Last Time is approaching.
John Cena’s WWE career is set to come to an end on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The record-setting seventeen-time former world champion announced his plans to retire at last year’s Money in the Bank event in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and now has just one more appearance at Survivor Series before bringing his legendary career to a close.
Joining Sam Roberts and Megan Morant on the Raw Recap ahead of his final Monday Night RAW appearance, John Cena revealed that despite announcing his retirement over a year in advance, he doesn’t feel as though he’s stepping away from the ring on his own terms. Instead, he admitted that he’s retiring out of necessity, acknowledging that his powers are beginning to wane.
“I’m not going out on my own terms. If I could do this in infinity, I would do it… I made a promise to the fan base when I started that when I got a step slower, I gotta walk away. And the sad thing is us as fans see that and be like, ‘But you got so much left.’ Yeah, I could probably squeeze out more matches, but at what cost? I do harm to myself, I do harm to the product, and you as a fan who’s allowed me the opportunity for over two decades to spend time with you, you leave feeling bad or sad. No, I want everyone to be happy.”

Cena is set to defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against former champion Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29, marking the final stop on his retirement tour before Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Meanwhile, the Last Time is Now tournament continues to determine Cena’s final opponent on December 13, with reported favourite GUNTHER defeating NXT’s Je’Von Evans in last night’s main event to advance.
Elsewhere during the podcast appearance, Cena revealed that Dominik Mysterio reminds him of his younger self and the mistakes he made early in his career. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on John Cena’s retirement tour as soon as we hear more.
