‘The Ring General’ has John Cena’s respect.
On December 13, Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. hosted John Cena’s final match, where he was ultimately defeated by GUNTHER via submission.
Speaking to Cody Rhodes on What Do You Wanna Talk About?, John Cena made it clear amid fan backlash that he has the utmost respect for GUNTHER and his particular brand of professional wrestling.
“I don’t care who likes or doesn’t like Gunther. Respect is a core value. Motherf*cker hits hard and pure, and he is all about this 20 x 20 box. And whether he does it my way, a wise man once said, ‘Just because it’s the way John does it doesn’t mean it’s the way it needs to be done.’ And I got the utmost respect for him.”

After gloating in front of an emotionally charged crowd, GUNTHER was met with disapproval backstage and was eventually thrown out of the December 14 edition of Monday Night RAW by General Manager Adam Pearce.
Elsewhere during the intervieCena explained why he smiled before tapping out to GUNTHER at Saturday Night’s Main Event. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for GUNTHER as soon as we hear more.
