The Blackpool Combat Club member has been given time off.

Jon Moxley hasn’t been seen in AEW since June 30’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view. On the show, the 38-year-old lost the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship to Tetsuya Naito, and an update has now emerged which explains his absence from the company since the crossover event.

Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that Jon Moxley has been given time off from AEW, and hasn’t been backstage at any events since the end of June.

“Moxley hasn’t wrestled or been at television since Forbidden Door. He has been given time off.”

As of now, it’s unclear when Moxley is expected back in AEW, although his break is certainly well-earned, coming off the back of a 79-day reign with New Japan Pro Wrestling’s top title. Fans will now be eager to see how the company opt to use the star once he is back in the fold.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Jon Moxley’s AEW absence as soon as we hear more.
