AEW’s talented roster played a major part in landing Josh Alexander’s signature.
On April 16th earlier this year, former two-time Impact World Champion Josh Alexander made his All Elite Wrestling debut after becoming a free agent in February, with both AEW and WWE reported to have been interested.
During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of The Undisputed, Alexander played down rumours that he turned down WWE over their financial offer and schedule, instead stating that he chose AEW because that’s where he wants to be.
“If you believe what you read online, I just went with the highest bidder. The truth is that the money, schedule, and things like that didn’t play into my decision as much as looking at the pool of talent I wanted to work with. There’s a specific reason I signed where I did. I chose AEW because I want to be here.”

Alexander went on to add that competing at WrestleMania has never been his dream, and his decision was further aided by a large number of dream opponents, including Kenny Omega, being with AEW.
“I didn’t grow up dreaming of wrestling at WrestleMania. I’ve worked with so many people in AEW that are now in high-profile positions, and I met Tony [Khan] during the Covid days. I vibed with him, and I think he’s a really good human being. He’s someone that actually cares about his talent and treats them like human beings. I have watched AEW religiously since its inception. A lot of it is that my dream matches are in AEW. I’ve been chasing Kenny Omega for 10 years. If I’m going to wrestle him, it’s going to be in AEW.”

Since arriving in AEW, Alexander has linked up with the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita, and Kyle Fletcher, amongst others, as a member of the ever-growing Don Callis Family.
On top of performing in AEW, Alexander also currently reigns as the inaugural Canadian Heavyweight Champion for Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro, with Alexander crediting D’Amore for helping him reach this stage in his career and noting that being able to pay him back by appearing for the promotion was another factor is making the move to AEW.
Alexander is set to take on AEW World Champion ‘Hangman’ Adam Page in a non-title match on this Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite in a rematch of the former TNA star’s first match in the company, losing to Page in the quarterfinals of the Owen Hart Cup back in April.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Josh Alexander as soon as we hear more.
