Josh Alexander reportedly let the highest bidder decide his next move.

On Friday, Josh Alexander’s TNA contract officially expired, but it wasn’t long before we got an indication as to what his next move would be. In an update from Fightful Select, it was revealed that AEW had emerged as the most likely landing spot for Alexander following his free agency, and now more is known about why he is believed to have signed with All Elite Wrestling instead of making the move to WWE.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, it’s believed that Josh Alexander decided to prioritise the highest bidder when it came to deciding between WWE and AEW.

“Well, you know, I mean, his TNA contract is up, and obviously, he was going to go to AEW or WWE, and it looks like AEW. But I do know two things. Number one, he has decided where he was going, and number two, it was to whoever the highest bidder was for him. So, the story is that it’s AEW, but I know those were the two key decision points. Providing the best for his family was key. And, you know, somebody offered a better deal than the other, and that’s the one he took.”

The news of Alexander’s likely move to AEW came following reports that the former Impact World Champion had hired Barry Bloom negotiate his next move, the same agent who helped secure The Elite’s contract extensions in 2023.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Josh Alexander’s future as soon as we hear more.
