The jury remains out on whether we’ll see Kevin Owens step into the ring again.
During the April 4th edition of Friday Night SmackDown earlier this year, Kevin Owens revealed that he needed neck surgery, with Fightful Select reporting that he successfully underwent said surgery on July 18th.
Whilst taking questions at the 2025 Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR event this past Saturday, Owens was asked to provide an update on his recovery and the prospect of an in-ring return down the line, to which the 41-year-old revealed that it’s currently unclear if his neck fusion surgery will be successful in terms of it leading to a return to the ring.
“Yeah, so it’s a neck surgery. I needed neck fusion. It was very stressful going into it, because we weren’t really sure how severe the fusion was going to be, how many levels, all this stuff. Thankfully, [the fusion] ended up only being one level, which is the best case scenario for something like this. The surgery was successful. I had a great doctor. The thing is, now we have to see how the bones fuse, and there’s no guarantee that it’s going to work. You know, how my body heals. And we’ll see. Some guys had success, some guys didn’t. Fingers crossed I can come back to wrestling in the next year. Really don’t know, though, but yeah, my goal is to come back. So hopefully that’s what happens.”

Elsewhere during the interview, Owens noted that the benefit of spending more time at home during his recovery is the “silver lining,” although he also highlighted the way’s in which WWE’s schedule has improved for talent over the years.
Owens last competed in a WWE ring at Elimination Chamber on March 1st in an Unsanctioned Match with his long-time friend Sami Zayn, with his planned match with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41 later cancelled.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Kevin Owens’ injury status as soon as we hear more, and we continue to wish him all the best in his recovery.
