Kit Wilson reveals what it was like to go solo after Elton Prince’s injury.

On the May 2, 2025, edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Elton Prince unfortunately suffered a broken neck which has seen him miss months of action. As a result, Kit Wilson, Prince’s longtime tag team partner in ‘Pretty Deadly’, has had to compete alone in the singles division. Now, Wilson has opened up on the nerves he felt when going solo in WWE.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Wilson talked through the things he and Elton Prince have shared since first meeting on the indies, including moving to America. Here, he discussed how nervous he was when going to SmackDown alone.

So the first day I went to SmackDown without Elton, I felt like I was five years old going to school for the first time. Because, again, we are best friends. We met on the independents. We signed together. We’ve done everything together. When we moved over to America, we live together. We talk every day. I love him, and we viewed each other as one person. We never talked to anyone and tried to talk as individuals. It was always about the team. So to do it on my own, I’ve never been more nervous in my life, but he’s been really supportive. We talk all the time. He’s always saying, What have you got? What you’re doing, you’re gonna smash it. He always says, Good job. So it was nice to have his support, but it was so nerve-racking going in, and now I feel like I’m finding my footing and I feel comfortable. It’s kind of fulfilling doing this whole new part of it, but it is scary, and I miss him.”

Elton Prince underwent double neck fusion surgery following his injury. Thankfully, Wilson noted elsewhere in the interview that Prince’s surgery went well and he’s been doing well in his recovery from injury so far. The pair are two-time former NXT Tag Team Champions having held the NXT UK Tag Team Championships before moving to America, and fans are now intrigued to see what awaits Kit in his journey as a singles wrestler on SmackDown.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Elton Prince’s injury as soon as we hear more.
