Korakuen Hall Set To Close For Renovations From January to May 2027

Korakuen Hall, widely regarded as a spiritual home of Japanese professional wrestling, boxing, and other combat sports, is set to undergo renovations beginning at the end of January 2027. The venue is scheduled to reopen in early May, with Korakuen Hall set to be fully closed from the end of January through early February, as well as throughout the entire month of April.

The iconic venue first opened in April 1962 as part of the Tokyo Dome City entertainment complex in Tokyo’s Bunkyo ward. According to Wrestlingdata.com, Korakuen Hall has hosted just under 6,500 shows, which, if accurate, would make it by far the most frequently used wrestling venue in the history of the sport. This year alone, Cagematch lists 153 events at Korakuen Hall, featuring promotions from across Japan’s wrestling scene.

Just this year, the arena has hosted too many major moments to count, including Shun Skywalker’s final match in Dragongate, the fifth annual Hana Kimura memorial show, and countless other memorable matches.
