Lil Yachty On Trick Williams: The Most Positive Influence On My Life I’ve Ever Had

Lil Yachty has glowing praise for Trick Williams.

Back in March, Lil Yachty began appearing alongside Trick Williams on SmackDown. The following month, Williams formerly invited the music star to join him at WrestleMania, and, in the modern landscape in which short-lived celebrity appearances have become common in WWE, Trick’s partnership with Yachty has become a regular feature on Friday nights. Now, the rapper has reflected on his time working with the United States Champion.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Yachty called Williams the most positive influence on his life he’s ever had.

“That is like my brother. That relationship, I couldn’t have paid for it. I couldn’t have asked for it. That was like dropped down from God. I couldn’t have asked for that friendship, man. That guy, he’s been the most positive influence on my life I’ve ever had, and I’ve always wanted an older brother like that. He’s really helped change my life for the better. Not only with the wrestling stuff and the opportunity, I’m grateful for that too. But off camera, just my health and training, and just the way he lives his life. I come from rap. It’s dark. We live a different life. I’m up all night. It’s a lot of drugs and women, and it’s just a different lifestyle. With Trick it is really routine, schedule, really healthy, really clean, on point, just a structured guy. Just being around him has really reshifted my brain in so many ways of life that he would never even know or understand because it’s just an image I haven’t had around being in studios with rappers and in the club or whatever. Just the way he lives has shifted me.”

Initially, Yachty was solely a hype man for Williams on the road to WrestleMania 42. But, on September 6 at Sunday Night’s Main Event, he made his in-ring debut, lasting five minutes with Baron Corbin to earn his associate a shot at the US Title. This led to Trick reclaiming the gold for the second time in his career.

As of writing, it’s unclear as to whether Yachty plans to return to the ring, but it’s fair to say he’s shown immense commitment since taking on his on-screen role with WWE. Having grown up as a fan of the industry, the star will likely be open to an in-ring return, although he spoke to Chris Van Vliet earlier in the interview about the toll his five-minute match took on his body.
