Hardy’s future is currently up in the air.

Matt Hardy wrestled regularly last year for AEW, predominantly alongside his brother Jeff, although he has made just one in-ring appearance for the company thus far in 2024, and following the latest reports, this could be a sign that his tenure with the promotion is coming to an end.

Fightful Select are now reporting that Matt Hardy’s contract is set to expire this month, with his deal no longer aligning with his brother Jeff’s due to injuries and inactivity.

“Fightful has learned that former WWE, WCW, TNA, ROH world tag team champion Matt Hardy’s current contract with AEW is set to expire in March. Hardy was brought in March 2020, where he was signed to a contract Originally we were told that Jeff Hardy’s AEW deal was set to match up to Matt’s deal as far as length, but injuries and inactivity led to that no longer being the case and there’s time added to the deal.”

Additionally, the Fightful noted that they’d heard that Hardy and AEW were in contact recently about his deal, however its unclear as to whether it will be extended.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Matt Hardy as soon as we hear more.
