Three names have reportedly left AEW.
Having just entered the new year, many are wondering what could be in store for All Elite Wrestling in 2026. However, it’s now been reported that three names are believed to be beginning the year by starting life away from the promotion.
According to a new update from Fightful Select, Matt Taven, Mercedes Martinez and Alex Abrahantez have all left AEW after their contracts expired.
“Fightful Select has learned that Matt Taven, Mercedes Martinez and Alex Abrahantes are no longer with AEW. We are told their contracts expired.”

Mercedes Martinez had already announced that 2026 would be her last as an active wrestler. The 45-year-old took to social media on January 1 to state her intention to return to the indies for one final run before her career comes to a close.
Matt Taven leaves the company having predominantly been featured as part of Ring Of Honor. The former ROH World Tag Team Champion last appeared on AEW programming on Rampage in November 2024, at the time being part of The Undisputed Kingdom. As of writing, Taven’s tag team partner Mike Bennett remains with the company:
As for Alex Abrahantez, he was perhaps best known to AEW fans for his time working as an on-screen manager, initially for The Lucha Brothers and later with Komander. He also worked as a member of the Spanish announce team.
We wish Taven, Martinez, and Abrahantez all the best with regard to their respective next moves.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates in the three AEW departures as soon as we hear more.
