Michael Cole Says GUNTHER Is The Best Wrestler On The Planet Today

Michael Cole has huge praise for GUNTHER.

In WWE today, few have the momentum of GUNTHER. Over the last nine months, ‘The Ring General’ has ended the in-ring careers of Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, with the Austrian having established himself as one of the biggest names in the company. Due to his success, many would put the star in the conversation for being one of the best wrestlers in the world, and it now seems that Michael Cole doesn’t believe there’s anyone out there better than GUNTHER right now.

Speaking on The Sal Licata Show, Michael Cole named GUNTHER as the best in the world.

“There is a gentleman in our business right now who every time he wrestles a match, I get goosebumps. I love to call the match. I believe he is the best professional wrestler on the planet today, and that is Gunther. There’s such a mix on him. Either people hate him or they love him. He is such an old school throwback… he is an artist. He is incredible to watch in the ring and it is such a different way to express our business the way that he does it. Gunther right now, to me, best on the planet. Love calling his matches.”

To put his dominance into perspective, GUNTHER has been a champion for around 70% of his time with WWE. This includes his NXT UK title run, his 666-day stint as Intercontinental Champion, and his two reigns with RAW’s World Heavyweight Championship.

However, despite his recent dominance, there’s currently no indication as to what GUNTHER is set to do at WrestleMania 42. In fact, a recent report suggested that the 38-year-old may even be left off the card entirely with should his original opponent be unable to compete. You can read more about that here.
