Michelle McCool thinks she could possibly return to the ring.
In 2011, Michelle McCool wrestled her last singles match when she took on Layla at Extreme Rules. The stipulation meant the loser of the match had to leave WWE, and, aside from Royal Rumble appearances, the 45-year-old hasn’t stepped in the ring in almost 14 years. Now, she’s opened up on a possible in-ring return.
Talking to Chris Van Vliet, McCool said that she feels as if she still has it in her to return to the ring.
“I feel like I could too. My mind tells me I can. Sometimes I’m like, I can’t believe it’s been 20 years, which is crazy to say. But, I am 44 now. I do feel like I could, at least for a very short amount of time, I can get in there and do it.”

Asked specifically about her last match for WWE, McCool said her match with Layla is one of her favourite in her career.
“I was happy with my last match for sure, it’s one of my favorite matches. I think Layla and I had a great match, I think we told a great story. Then, Awesome Kong coming out for her debut, which we only knew minutes before.”

Talking about the possible motivation behind a potential return, McCool explained how her daughter was the reason why she agreed to be in the 2018 Royal Rumble match and how her son has never seen her wrestle to this point.
“I think, I mean, I don’t know. I did my first Rumble when my daughter was in kindergarten. We didn’t have merch back then and they actually presented me with a shirt, I’m like, ‘She can watch me wrestle and I get a shirt with my name on it now?’ That’s why I did it. Then, that little turd came to the show. She’s going around catering with my parents. She’s like, ‘Mommy, Joe from merch gave me a Naomi shirt.’ She puts the Naomi shirt over my shirt. I’m like, hold up, this is messed up. I’m doing this for you kid, show a little love. I did that for her to see me wrestle. My son hasn’t seen me wrestle, so, I mean…”

The star is a former Women’s Champion in WWE and was one of the company’s key women’s wrestlers during her era. Previously, McCool has discussed how she’s never held serious talks with WWE about another run but it could still happen and whether it materialises at any stage remains to be seen.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the in-ring future of Michelle McCool as soon as we hear more.
