Retirement isn’t on the cards just yet for Nick Aldis.
Since joining WWE in August 2023, Nick Aldis has maintained a consistent presence onscreen as SmackDown’s General Manager, although fans have often questioned whether the role signals the end of his career as an active wrestler.
Appearing on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Aldis’ wife, Mickie James, revealed that his days as an active competitor are far from over and that it would be a dream come true for him to lace up the boots once again if the right opportunity arose.
“He’s far from done. I mean, I think if he was ever given, and I would pray for the perfect opportunity and story or whatever, but I think that if he’s ever given an opportunity to put on his boots and get out in that ring, I know it would be a dream come true for him.”

Aldis’ most recent in-ring outing saw him fall short against Caleb Konley in a five-way match that also featured Beastman, Facade, and Matthew Justice for the ACW Bluegrass Con Championship on November 7, 2023.
The 38-year-old’s career as an active wrestler is best remembered for his time as Magnus, which included a reign as TNA World Champion among a lengthy list of accolades.
SmackDown’s General Manager is also a two-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and has held tag team gold in both New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH.
Elsewhere in the interview, Mickie James revealed that she could still step back into the ring today, although she feels she has nothing left to prove. You can read more about that here.
James also touched on the controversial ‘Piggy James’ storyline with LayCool during the interview. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the prospect of Nick Aldis getting back into the ring as soon as we hear more.
