MJF reveals whether anyone in AEW has been asked to take a pay cut.

Not long after WWE held its April 25 releases, it emerged that multiple talent had been offered pay cuts, with one ‘pretty majorly pushed’ wrestler believed to have taken a 50% salary reduction. With many the wrestling world still giving their reactions to WWE’s recent cost-cutting moves, a top AEW star has now been asked whether Tony Khan has ever deployed a similar approach to talent contracts.

Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, MJF said AEW has never asked anyone to take a pay cut during their contract.

“You mean during a contract? No fcking way. No fcking way. Now if somebody took bad swings at bat and when their contract was up, they’re asked, ‘Hey, brother, we’re not paying you what we were paying you before because you can’t f*cking hit dingers,’ that’s a different thing. If you’re asking me have we ever in the middle of somebody’s contract been like, ‘Hey, man, sorry,’ no. That’s never happened.”

While the WWE talent who reportedly took a 50% pay cut remains unknown, TKO wanting to renegotiate terms is believed to be the major driving force behind The New Day’s shock exit. With Kofi and Creed now having to wait 90 days before making their next move, reports indicate many of the AEW locker room have strong interest in bringing them in. You can read more about that here.

On that, MJF mentioned elsewhere in the interview that New Day would be incredible additions to the All Elite Wrestling roster. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on both AEW’s roster and WWE’s recent pay cut offers as soon as we hear more.
