Motor City Machine Guns Debut On AEW Collision
The Motor City Machine Guns are “All Elite”.
Last night, AEW opened up their live Thursday night edition of Collision with the debut of The Motor City Machine Guns. It marked the team’s first appearance for the company since AEW All Out 2022, and their first appearance anywhere since they were released from WWE on April 24.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin arrived at the Masonic Temple Theatre in their hometown of Detroit, Michigan to a thunderous reaction. They kept their appearance pretty brief, leaning on fans’ surprise that they didn’t appear on Wednesday’s Dynamite by asking the crowd if they really thought they wouldn’t appear, telling those in attendance that they were home in more ways than one. The screens on the entrance ramp then flashed their “All Elite” graphic, to another loud reaction.
However, their nights weren’t done, as MCMG came to the Bang Bang Gang’s aid just as the Death Riders and The Dogs were orchestrating a post-match beat down later in the show. As such, it’s possible that the team already have their first opponents lined up, though this is yet to be confirmed.
Sabin and Shelley have been one of the most illustrious tag teams in the United States for the better part of two decades. Though we can track their tag team history to 2003, the name “Motor City Machine Guns” would be first unveiled during a match in November 2006 for PWG.
Over the subsequent 20 years, Sabin and Shelley have won tag titles in a myriad of different promotions including TNA, Ring of Honor, New Japan, ZERO1, DEADLOCK, and WWE. After their success elsewhere, it’s hard to imagine that they won’t eventually hold the gold in AEW somewhere down the line. For now, though, what they go on to do now they’re “All Elite” remains to be seen.
