MVP has revealed what he used to do to stop Vince McMahon from shouting at him on commentary.

While Vince McMahon was in charge of WWE, it’s fair to say that he liked to control every single aspect of the company’s presentation. To that point, every commentator who worked behind the desk during that period had McMahon’s voice in their ear at one point or another as the former Chairman of the Board attempted to feed specific lines to those calling the action. However, MVP has now revealed what he used to do to stop Vince directing him while he made appearances on WWE commentary.

Speaking to Donnie DaSilva and Jimmy Konderas, MVP discussed how he used to notice when McMahon was about to speak and would jump in and talk first.

“I figured out something real quick. Vince would make suggestions on what to say, and I figured out real quickly, what I would hear in my headset, the mic would key, I know Vince was about to make a suggestion. I would say something before he could speak because I know whatever I say is going to be way better than whatever he suggested. I would hear the mic click like he was about to say something, and then I would say something, and I would hear the mic click out. That would happen all the time. I just knew he was going to say something and I would say something quick and witty and I would hear the mic key out. I guess he would go, ‘Okay, that was good,'”

MVP went on to say that McMahon never realised that he was cutting him off on purpose and so the 51-year-old was never called out for his trick.

These days, MVP can be found in AEW, managing The Hurt Syndicate every Wednesday night on Dynamite. While his in-ring days aren’t behind him just yet, he has previously stated that there isn’t much longer left when it comes to his days as an active competitor and he’d like his retirement to happen in All Elite Wrestling.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on MVP as soon as we hear more.
