Could some familiar faces from Cena’s past return as part of the legend’s retirement tour?
On December 13 at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., John Cena’s wrestling career will come to a close at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event. Prior to his final appearance, Cena is scheduled to appear on the November 10 and 17 editions of Monday Night RAW, as well as at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29.
In a new interview with KVIA-ABC 7, Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler in WWE, said he wouldn’t mind seeing John Cena step into the ring with Matt Cardona or Batista before his career concludes.
“I wouldn’t mind seeing — I know there’s a Madison Square Garden match, I wouldn’t mind seeing Matt Cardona show up representing New York. Then, when they get to DC, maybe Batista. Who knows, it could be anyone from the past or someone new.”
-Nic Nemeth
Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, is currently working across the independent scene and for TNA Wrestling, with the latter’s partnership with WWE recently seeing him appear on NXT.
Batista, meanwhile, has stated on multiple occasions that he intends to honour his retirement match with Triple H at WrestleMania 35, with the former WWE Superstar focusing on his Hollywood career.
Regarding Cena’s final opponent, multiple reports have indicated that WWE are planning for former World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER to face the record-setting 17-time world champion in December. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on plans for John Cena’s final dates ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event as soon as we hear more.
