Nigel McGuinness has clarified his contract status with All Elite Wrestling.

Having been one of the leading voices of Collision since its inception, Nigel McGuinness has been providing commentary for AEW since 2023. While he continues as a regular feature behind the desk, the former ROH World Champion made a stunning return to the ring at last year’s All In, and has competed in a total of six matches over the last 14 months. Now, McGuinness has given an update on what his in-ring return meant for his contract status.

Speaking to The Magic Of Wrestling, McGuinness clarified that AEW ‘re-upped’ his deal when they knew he’d wrestle again.

“Yeah, my manager and agent sort of handle all that side of things. I just sign along the dotted line. I know we did — we sort of re-upped when it became clear that I was gonna be getting in the ring again, just sort of like an amendment to it. It’s ostensibly the same contract I believe.”

At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Nigel McGuinness wrestled his most recent match, unsuccessfully challenging Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. As yet, it’s unknown when the Brit will next step into the ring.

Recently, McGuinness set the record straight on whether he’d consider a full-time return to the ring. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Nigel McGuinness’ contract status as soon as we hear more.
