Nikki Bella aims to be back next month but won’t

Since March 27, Nikki Bella has been sidelined with an injury. Previously, the WWE Hall of Famer had been targeting next month’s Night Of Champions Premium Live Event for a possible return, and she’s now offered fans a further update on how her recovery is coming along and whether June is still her goal to be back in the ring.

Speaking to USA Today, Nikki Bella revealed that she’s set to get an x-ray in the middle of June, though her best case scenario is still returning by the end of that month.

“I’ll get x-rayed the middle of June and see how the bones have grown. So fingers crossed I’ll get amazing news, and then just got to match that kind of news with strength and then I’ll be back. I always try to ask [about a return date] and like, ‘Not until I see what your ankle looks like in June.’ And I’m like, ‘But if you were to just guess?’ And they’re like, ‘Don’t know, not until June,’ when you start to deal with doctors and stuff. So I’m hoping, for me in my head, end of June would be incredible. But I also don’t want to go back too early because the big part about when people get reinjured is because their strength isn’t matching. So I need to make sure the calf, the quads, the glutes, I need to make sure they’re all built up so they protect that ankle.”

Nikki’s injury took her out of her spot in the four-way match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 42. Instead, Paige made first WWE in-ring appearance in nine years to team with Brie Bella and win the gold.

Brie and Paige are currently 39 days into their reign as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, having retained over The Irresistible Forces at Saturday Night’s Main Event. How Nikki will re-enter the fold given the Brit replaced her on the ‘Show Of Shows’ remains to be seen.
