The titles evaded the pair during their time as a tag team in AEW.
Despite being a heavily featured act during their time as a tag team in All Elite Wrestling, Santana and Ortiz never captured the AEW World Tag Team Titles prior to their split and Santana’s subsequent departure.
Speaking to Wombreezy, Ortiz revealed that the pair had been planned to win the titles on more than one occasion, though those plans ultimately never came to fruition.
“It was supposed to happen a couple of times, but due to certain circumstances, it just didn’t happen. Some out of our control, you know what I mean? Especially the first time. Fate kind of took it another way. And, honestly, that’s a true story. There were plans to put the titles on us, but it didn’t work out that way.”

Those weren’t the only scrapped plans Ortiz touched on either, as he revealed earlier in the interview that there had also been plans for the pair to face the Lucha Bros in a traditional tag team match, with the two teams only ever sharing the ring in multi-man bouts during their time in AEW.
Regarding a potential reunion with Santana in the future, Ortiz stated that he’d be open to teaming with his former partner once again if the timing and circumstances were right. You can read more about that here.
Elsewhere during the interview, Ortiz revealed that he has around one year left on his current AEW deal, though he’d be open to remaining with the company. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Ortiz as soon as we hear more.
