Penta says his WWE Intercontinental Championship win makes the pain worth it.

This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW saw Penta finally dethrone Dominik Mysterio to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The title victory came in Penta’s sixth attempt to capture the gold, and he’s now opened up on the struggles he’s faced on the way to singles success.

Appearing on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, Penta revealed that he’s been dealing with a torn bicep for at least four years, though his recent WWE Intercontinental Championship victory made the pain worthwhile.

“This injury was maybe, I don’t remember exactly, four, five years ago, something like that. I don’t remember who gave me a kick. One kick in my chest, broke. Basically, he broke the tendon from the shoulder to the base bicep. And bro, it’s so hard. And this is the shoulder from the last injury, like a couple months ago. Now, no matter. I’m f*cking glad because the gold is on my shoulder, brother. The gold is in Mexico right now. No matter what happened with my body, I don’t care. This is the most important.”

Penta previously confirmed that he had been dealing with a torn bicep back in February of last year during an episode of Sheamus’ Celtic Warrior Workouts and would additionally sustain a shoulder injury that sidelined him in late 2025.

After claiming his first taste of championship gold since joining WWE at the beginning of 2025, the future certainly looks bright for one of the company’s most popular luchadors.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Penta’s injury status as soon as we hear more.
