The Lucha Bros reunion hangs in the balance.

Having arrived in WWE separately and split between RAW and SmackDown due to the circumstances of their AEW departures, Penta and Rey Fenix have yet to reunite as a tag team during their time with the company. That is set to change imminently, however, with The Lucha Brothers scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano at AAA: Guerra de Titanes on December 20, though a recent injury suffered by Penta has cast doubt on whether the match will go ahead.

Within the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that Penta’s status remains uncertain as the show approaches.

“The last word we got was that Penta was touch-and-go for the 12/20 show in Guadalajara where he was to team with Fenix for the first time in WWE against Grande Americano & Dominik Mysterio. His doctor was non-committal and basically said WWE would decide. A WWE source with knowledge of the situation a few days ago described it as 50/50.”

Penta appeared to have suffered a dislocated shoulder during his match with Solo Sikoa on the November 24 edition of Monday Night RAW in The Last Time is Now tournament, leading to the referee calling off the contest.

AAA: Guerra de Titanes takes place on December 20 at the Arena Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Jalisco, with several WWE Superstars set to feature at the event.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Penta’s injury status as soon as we hear more, and we continue to wish him all the best in his recovery.
