More has come out regarding Rocky Romero’s new AEW role and QT Marshall’s return.
Over the last couple of days, news broke additions to AEW’s staff. First, in the Wrestling Observer’s Daily Update, it was reported that Rocky Romero had become part of the company’s front office, with it then coming out via Fightful Select a day later that QT Marshall had agreed to re-join All Elite Wrestling in the position of Vice President.
To provide an update on this, Dave Meltzer has spoken on Wrestling Observer Radio to discuss the specifics of the respective roles now filled by QT Marshall and Rocky Romero.
“I don’t know if he (QT Marshall)’s back (in AEW) yet, but he’s gonna be starting back. Rocky (Romero)’s role is gonna be talent development, so essentially training wrestlers and working with the younger talent, and also international liaison obviously with New Japan and CMLL. & QT, his key role is going to be talent development as well. Trainer and everything like that. He left December 31 right, and Tony Khan said if he wants to come back, the door’s open, and I guess he wanted to come back. I know that the idea was he wanted to make it as a main event wrestler and he worked a bunch of indies, but he can still work those indies if he’s coming back for that job. So, starting up soon.”

As mentioned, Marshall’s return comes just under three months after he initially departed the company in search of more frequent in-ring action. In his new role, it’s suggested that he can still take bookings anywhere except WWE while also offering his services as a trainer to AEW.
As for Romero, the 41-year-old already played a pivotal role in connecting wrestling promotions across the world, and his new position in AEW only expands his ability to work with up and coming talent while maintaining relations between different companies.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the new roles within AEW for QT Marshall and Rocky Romero as we hear more.
