The latest update has emerged on Malakai Black.
When Buddy Matthews was seemingly distanced from the House of Black on the January 8 edition of AEW Dynamite, questions were raised with regard to the future of the group and its leader. Later, it emerged via Fightful that Malakai Black was expected to be finishing up with the company, and the latest update on the situation suggests WWE may be keeping an eye on his availability.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Malakai Black isn’t expected back in AEW, and has even come up in WWE creative of late.
“Nobody expects him back. There was also talk from WWE that he was expected there when his contract expires. That’s been the case for a while, but evidently there has been talk in WWE creative about him of late.”
-Dave Meltzer
Black first joined AEW around three and a half years ago, but, although there’s yet to be any official confirmation of his exit, it appears his future will lie away from the company. With a WWE return seemingly not off the cards, the situation remains one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks and months.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Malakai Black as soon as we hear more.
