Ricky Starks is still under AEW contract.

It’s been almost eight months since fans last saw Ricky Starks on AEW TV, most recently competing on the March 30 edition of Collision. However, this past weekend Starks made a surprise appearance at GCW in which he said he refuses to ‘let his career dwindle’ and was also seen competing at Glory Pro Wrestling, prompting more questions regarding his future. Now, more is known on his current contract status and AEW opting to extend his deal.

Per Fightful Select, it’s believed that AEW executed the option to extend Starks’ contract for a year earlier this year, meaning which the 34-year-old under a deal with the company until spring or summer 2025.

Fightful Select learned via numerous AEW sources that AEW had an option year in the spring of 2024 in which they picked up. This extends Ricky Starks’ stay into the spring or summer of 2025.

As of yet, it’s unclear whether Starks will return to AEW, particularly as the report notes that Ricky hasn’t been factored into any creative plans of late. Still, the former FTW Champion was backstage at AEW Full Gear and his presence was said to be welcomed by many last Saturday night.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Ricky Starks’ AEW status as soon as we hear more.
