The Road to WrestleMania is beginning to take shape.
Ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames tonight at Petco Park in San Diego, California, all signs suggest the WWE Universe will get a major hint at the plans for WrestleMania 42’s main event, with several top stars set to be involved.
In today’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Roman Reigns was originally scheduled to face Seth Rollins in the main event of Night Two of WrestleMania 42 before Rollins’ injury, with current plans calling for him to face either CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, or whoever holds either world title in that spot next year.
“Reigns vs. Rollins was scheduled as the night two main event for 2026. The Reigns hint regarding challenging either Rhodes or Punk (or someone else if either of those titles change hands first) is the current planned direction still as the main event. There will almost surely be more hints in War Games with Reigns, Rhodes, and Punk all on the same team.”

Seth Rollins suffered a shoulder injury during his match with Cody Rhodes at WWE’s Crown Jewel: Perth PLE on October 11, forcing him to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship.
Roman Reigns is set to team with Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and The Usos to face The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, along with Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, and Brock Lesnar, in WarGames tonight.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on plans for WrestleMania 42 as soon as we hear more.
