More has emerged on why Samoa Joe was written off of AEW programming at All In.

This past Saturday at AEW All In, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata retained the World Trios Championships against The Death Riders and Gabe Kidd. However, after the match, the former AEW World Champion was ambushed by his opponents which led to him being stretchered out. Now, an update has emerged on why Joe was attacked post-match in Texas.

Per Fightful Select, it’s believed that Samoa Joe is set to do some promotion for the upcoming season of Twisted Metal, meaning he will be taking some time away from AEW.

“Joe was scheduled to miss some time after AEW All In, as he’s set to do some promotion for the upcoming season of Twisted Metal.”

The report notes that, while the exact timeframe of Joe’s AEW absence isn’t clear, he’s set to be away from the company for at least a few weeks ahead of Twisted Metal’s second season. The 46-year-old plays the character ‘Sweet Tooth’ and the show is set to release on Peacock at the end of this month.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Samoa Joe’s AEW absence as soon as we hear more.
