Santos Escobar Reportedly Worked AAA Rey De Reyes Injured, Set For Surgery

Santos Escobar reportedly worked this weekend’s AAA Rey De Reyes injured.
On March 14, Santos Escobar competed in the 2026 Rey De Reyes Final, losing out to El Grande Americano. Since re-signing with WWE in October, the star has become commonplace in the Mexican promotion, although an update has now emerged suggesting the 41-year-old is now set for surgery after working through an injury this past weekend.
According to Fightful Select, it’s believed Escobar worked Rey De Reyes with an injury which was aggravated during his match.
“Fightful Select & Fightful Español has learned that Santos Escobar worked AAA Rey de Reyes injured. The injury got more aggravated during the match, and he is set to undergo surgery this Thursday for a torn tricep.”

With surgery set for tomorrow, it’s currently unknown how long Escobar is set to be sidelined. Still a member of Legado Del Fantasma, it remains to be seen as to whether fans will see Berto and Angel remain active in WWE and AAA in Santos’ absence.
With Escobar’s WWE deal expiring back in Autumn before he inked a new deal with the company, his status was once again called into question earlier this week when speculation emerged he’d been moved to the alumni section of their website. However, recent reports shed more light on the situation. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Santos Escobar’s injury status as soon as we hear more.
