Saraya reveals she almost left AEW after her first promo.
On September 21, 2022, Saraya made her All Elite Wrestling debut, emerging at Grand Slam to confront Britt Baker. The following week, the former Divas Champion addressed the Dynamite audience for the first time, although her first promo didn’t connect with viewers in quite the way she was anticipating. Now, the Brit has opened up on her first AEW promo, revealing that it almost led her to quitting the company.
Speaking on Daria and Toni Unwrapped, Saraya discussed thinking of leaving AEW after her first promo, explaining how Jon Moxley was the one to help her get back into the swing of things.
“It was fcking bad. I literally stopped halfway through the promo and went, ‘I’m so sorry, you guys. I’m really nervous.’ I just didn’t know what to say. And then I literally said ‘revolution’ five times in a row and tripped over my words. And I’m like, ‘What the fck am I talking about?’ I came backstage and people were just looking down, trying to avoid eye contact with me. I actually called my manager and I was like, ‘I think I made a mistake. I don’t think I should be here anymore. I need to leave. I cannot do this.’ And he was like, ‘You need to f*cking stick it out. People have bad promos. It’s not as bad as what you think it is. Just do another promo and they’ll forget about it.’ Which I did. Moxley is the one that helped me with that second promo that I did with Britt, because I was like, ‘Dude, I can’t fck this up again.’ And he was so great… Moxley was the one that really fcking helped me get back into the promo swing of things again.”

Saraya would go on to have a successful stint in AEW, with the highlight of her run being when she captured the Women’s World Championship at Wembley Stadium in 2023. Speaking of her title win, the star recently spoke about how she thought she’d never win a championship again prior to her triumph at All In: London. You can read more about that here.
Having spent around three years with the company, the 33-year-old confirmed her departure from AEW this past March. As of writing, she’s yet to make a return to wrestling, although she recently revealed she’s set to begin training again at the start of 2026. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Saraya’s time in AEW as soon as we hear more.
