Following last Monday’s edition of Raw that saw WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Naomi walk out before their scheduled main event, the situation was once again addressed last night on Smackdown.
The planned main event for this week’s Raw was scheduled to be a Six Pack Challenge to determine the number one contender for Bianca Belair’s Raw Women’s Championship, however plans changed when Sasha Banks & Naomi left the building, handing in their Women’s Tag Team Titles to John Laurinaitis.
Neither were present on last night’s edition of Smackdown, and during the broadcast, Michael Cole delivered an official statement on behalf of WWE addressing the situation.
Michael Cole revealed that the pair has been “suspended indefinitely”, following the walk-out that he claimed had “let us all down”. The statement noted that Sasha Banks & Naomi’s actions had “disappointed millions of WWE fans, and their fellow Superstars.”
Cole then moved on to announce that due to the actions of Banks and Naomi, the Women’s Tag Team Championships are now vacant, with a future tournament set to crown new champions in the near future.
It is also worth noting that both Sasha Banks & Naomi have had their merchandise pulled from WWE’s official online store. As of writing, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that both women are still under contract with WWE, debunking any rumours that the pair had been officially released.
The pair’s contracts are potentially set to expire within the next 2 months, and thus the timing of these disputes raises questions over the future of both performers.
As always as soon as we hear more regarding this situation we will keep you updated.
