In surprising news, Scott D’Amore’s time with TNA is over.
Earlier Wednesday afternoon, TNA Wrestling issued a press release announcing that Anthony Cicone was appointed the new president of the promotion and that Scott D’Amore’s contract with TNA had been terminated.
Cicone has been with Anthem Sports & Entertainment, TNA’s parent company, for 16 years. TNA cited the move as one that aims to further integrate the promotion into Anthem’s Entertainment Group and promote synergy between all parts of the company. Cicone is the president of Anthem’s Entertainment Group.
D’Amore’s termination is a surprising one, as he has been with TNA in various roles for most of the last two decades. Additionally, he oversaw operations as the promotion underwent rebranding, going from Impact Wrestling (which they had been known as since 2017) back to TNA at the beginning of 2024.
There are not yet any details as to why D’Amore’s contract was terminated instead of him being given a new role with the company. His termination is the latest in a series of shakeups happening around wrestling, as Rossy Ogawa was recently fired by STARDOM and Hiroshi Tanahashi was named the president and representative director of New Japan Pro Wrestling in the last week of 2023.
As more information comes out about why Scott D’Amore was fired, we will update you.
