The former World Heavyweight Champion could be donning a referee shirt at SummerSlam next month.

Since returning to WWE on June 17th after dropping the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 back in April, Seth Rollins has found himself involved in the feud between CM Punk and Drew Mclntyre, leading many to question whether Rollins would be involved with the pair at SummerSlam.

In today’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that one of the top bouts at SummerSlam is scheduled to have a special guest referee. Whilst Meltzer didn’t specify the match in question, he did note that he was told it would not be Rhea Ripley vs Liv Morgan.

“As of right now there is a guest referee spot scheduled for one of the top bouts at SummerSlam. It’s not known which one it is, but was told it’s NOT Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan.”

With Rollins’ involvement with Punk and Mclntyre, many initially assumed that this would be the match Meltzer was referring to, and it now seems as though that was the case as WrestleVotes has since taken to X to reveal that that is the current plan.

Punk is reportedly yet to be cleared for the bout, but as WrestleVotes notes, the belief is that he’ll be ready in time for SummerSlam.

Elsewhere on the card, Cody Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa, whilst a returning Rhea Ripley looks to reclaim the Women’s World Championship from Liv Morgan.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the plans for SummerSlam as soon as we hear more.
