Shawn Michaels Says Kurt Angle Is The Standard For NXT Recruitment

Kurt Angle is the standard when it comes to NXT recruitment, according to HBK.
Shawn Michaels currently serves as WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative, and with the WWE Hall of Fame inductee leading the NXT brand, he remains heavily involved in producing the next generation of WWE Superstars.
Appearing on 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony, Shawn Michaels praised Kurt Angle’s transition into becoming a WWE Superstar and noted that he is the benchmark when it comes to recruiting talent for NXT.
“Kurt’s, man, easily the best transition from what he did into our stuff. Did it seamlessly. What a stud. He absolutely is the guy. He is the standard, certainly from an NXT standpoint from recruiting now what we do, using Kurt as the guy that’s the best to have done it in just such a seamless, quick manner.”

Kurt Angle joined WWE in 1998 following an extremely successful amateur wrestling career that saw him win gold at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He went on to capture world championship gold across both WWE and TNA Wrestling and is widely recognised as one of professional wrestling’s all-time great in-ring performers.
Shawn Michaels shared the ring with Kurt Angle a number of times during the mid-2000s, with their match at WrestleMania 21 widely regarded as some of the finest work of both men’s careers.
Following this past weekend’s NXT Stand & Deliver, WWE are reportedly looking to build the brand around former WWE ID signee EK Prosper, amongst others. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on further talent additions to WWE NXT as soon as we hear more.
