Shun Skywalker has officially joined House of Torture.

Former three-time Open the Dream Gate Champion Shun Skywalker made his long-awaited New Japan Pro-Wrestling debut at Night 18 of the G1 Climax tour inside the legendary Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday. The 30-year-old was called upon by members of the House of Torture faction as they launched a post-match assault on members of the Hontai faction.

Skywalker came out to a massive pop from the New Japan faithful. Despite having wrestled only six times for the promotion during his time in Dragongate, the fans inside the arena knew exactly who he was.

The former leader of Z-Brats and Psypatra took the microphone and cut a promo introducing himself, finishing it with his trademark scream. At least so far, Skywalker appears to have kept almost everything from his time in Dragongate, including his name, entire look, and promo style. This is seemingly as pure a version of Shun Skywalker as ever, with the only major difference being that he is now a member of House of Torture, NJPW’s main heel unit.

It remains to be seen how Skywalker will be used during his first few tours, but hopefully his association with H.O.T. won’t overshadow his work in the ring. Skywalker has established himself as one of the best wrestlers in the world over the past decade, and his NJPW run should provide another opportunity to showcase that.
