Sonya Deville has commented on whether she’s retired.
Back in February, Sonya Deville was told by WWE that they would not be renewing her contract when it came up at the end of the month. Since then, Deville has yet to make another appearance inside the squared circle, and many have been wondering whether the 31-year-old has closed the book with regard to her career. Now, she’s given an update on her status.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Deville confirmed that she’s retired, indicating that she’s at peace with the idea of her in-ring career being over.
“Definitely for now. Never say never. But right now I feel at peace with that. I’m not gonna lie, and I haven’t said this, but it almost is like an open wound, and if I think about wrestling somewhere else, it’s like I was so loyal to the company, it was my only home from 21 years old to 31. I’m a ride or die type of person in general. So it’s weird to even think about doing that, but not there.”

As Deville mentions in the interview, wrestling retirements can often be taken back if the right opportunity arises, but it does seem as if the former WWE star is content not competing elsewhere. With her career in wrestling seemingly behind her, Sonya can look back on a run with the Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Chelsea Green.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Sonya Deville’s wrestling future as soon as we hear more.
