One-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions looks set to be out of action indefinitely.
On the July 28th edition of Friday Night SmackDown, newly crowned WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green put their titles on the line against the team of Bianca Belair & Charlotte Flair, and whilst the pair came away with the reign intact, it appears that unfortunately their time with the gold will be coming to an end regardless.
TMZ are now reporting that Sonya Deville suffered a torn ACL during the bout, and therefore is now set to be out of action as she requires surgery to treat the issue.
“Our sources say DeVille tore her ACL during her tag team championship match against Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair on July 28 in New Orleans on SmackDown and will undergo a procedure on Tuesday to fix the issue.”

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has since corroborated the report, although no further information was provided at this time.
Per TMZ’s report, WWE will be addressing the future of the Women’s Tag Team Championship tonight on Monday Night RAW, with the pair vacating the gold currently appearing to be the likely outcome.
The injury comes at a devastating time for Deville, as her and Green had only recently captured the title from Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan on the July 17th episode of RAW, with the championship being the first of the 29-year-old’s career.
As of writing, their is currently no timetable for Deville’s return to the ring, but as always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates as soon as we hear more, and we wish Deville all the best in her recovery.
