Steve Austin wishes Kevin Owens well as he continues his recovery.

At present, Kevin Owens is recovering having undergone neck fusion surgery last July. The star disappeared from our screens not long before his planned clash with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41, and it’s currently unknown when ‘The Prizefighter’ may be able to return to the ring. Now, a WWE legend has offered high praise to Owens while wishing him well for the future.

Speaking on The Takedown On SI, Stone Cold Steve Austin called Kevin Owens a Hall of Fame talent. While discussing the former Universal Champion’s current injury, Austin says he keeps in touch with Owens and wishes him nothing but the best.

“I called Kevin a couple of months ago. I think he’s got a great doctor, according to him, and I threw out a name that I’d heard good things about. I care about the guy. Love the guy. He’s a Hall of Fame talent. Don’t know how he banged his neck up, but he took a lot of bumps. He did a lot of stuff. I remember meeting him in the airport 20, 25 years ago and I’d seen him work. That’s when I told him, and he’ll tell you the same story, ‘Hey, kid, you don’t need to worry about all those fancy moves. You need to learn how to talk.’ And of course he did and he’s great. And I’m not saying his style hurt his neck. It’s a rough business. No matter what style you work, you’re gonna take a bump. And even the most simple bump can be the devastating bump, although it looks normal, that sets off some chain reaction, or is the straw that broke the camel’s back and there’s that injury. Injuries happen. I stay in touch with him a little bit and I wish him nothing but the best.”

Of course, Owens and Austin famously shared the ring to close the first night of WrestleMania 38. Despite not wrestling in around 19 years at that point, ‘The Rattlesnake’ was able to lace up the boots one more time in his home state of Texas.

With today being March 16, many fans are wondering whether we could be due an appearance from Steve Austin on tonight’s edition of RAW. Last weekend, it emerged on WrestleVotes Live via Fightful Select that people in WWE were hopeful of an appearance, though, during the interview with The Takedown On SI, Austin seemed to suggest he wouldn’t be at the show. Still, whether we hear the infamous glass shatter tonight remains to be seen.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Steve Austin as soon as we hear more.
