Steve Austin has reflected on the chemistry he has with Bret Hart.
‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is one of the most legendary names in wrestling history. As one of the top names during the Attitude Era, ‘The Rattlesnake’ had many iconic rivalries during his WWE career, with perhaps his most famous in-ring opponent being The Rock. However, his feud with Bret Hart helped Austin reach the next level as a performer. Now, the star has looked back on his time working with ‘The Hitman’.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Austin discussed the natural chemistry he felt with Bret Hart.
“Because Bret Hart is the best there is, the best there was, there ever will be. I love working with that guy. We just had instant chemistry. He was a student of the game and a student of other promotions. He had seen what I was doing in WCW as Stunning Steve Austin, and he knew his style and my style would work well together. And it did. Just trash-talking heel that I was, and he was at that steady workaholic working babyface, blue collar, if you will, from Canada, wearing the pink. Just two styles that would work really, really well together, and it did. I’m very thankful to that guy, because he meant a lot to my career.”

Austin and Hart famously battled it out at WrestleMania 13 in a match regarded as one of the best to ever take place at the ‘Show Of Shows’. During the bout, the pair executed a double turn which saw ‘The Hitman’ turn heel while ‘Stone Cold’ embraced his growing popularity to become one of the biggest babyfaces in company history.
