‘The Icon’ reflects on his legendary career.
Debuting back in 1985, Sting amassed almost forty years of experience in professional wrestling before his 2024 retirement from the ring. Best known for his time with WCW, Sting also wrestled for TNA, WWE and AEW throughout his time in the squared circle, and the 66-year-old has now looked back on his lengthy career.
Speaking to Going Ringside, Sting was asked how WWE, TNA and AEW compare with one another. On this, he noted they were all different in their own way, but stated that All Elite Wrestling felt like home to him.
“They’re all different in some ways, but the thing that I liked about AEW is it always just felt like my brand. It felt like home to me.”

Now almost two years on from his retirement, Sting was able to reflect on racking up around four decades of experience. Here, he discussed never expecting his career to last as long as it did.
“I was the guy who said, ‘I don’t understand all those old guys hanging out for so long.’ I could not understand it. I said, ‘I will never do that!’ And I blew them all out of the water. Four decades later, here I am.”

Flanked by Darby Allin, Sting wrestled a total of 28 matches for AEW between 2021 and 2024. The pair became World Tag Team Champions on the February 7, 2024, edition of Dynamite, and even retained the gold against The Young Bucks in the legend’s final match before ‘The Icon’ bowed out at the end of Revolution 2024.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Sting as soon as we hear more.
