Suzume & Rika Tatsumi To Compete For TJPW’s Princess Cup On Sunday

After more than a month of action, the finals of Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling’s Princess Cup tournament will take place on Sunday, August 23, at Korakuen Hall. The match will see one half of the Princess Tag Team Champions, Rika Tatsumi, face the current International Princess Champion, Suzume, with the winner earning a shot at Yuki Arai’s Princess of Princess Championship.

Both women had to navigate a challenging tournament bracket to reach the finals. Tatsumi, who has competed in every Princess Cup since 2016, defeated Miyu Yamashita, Hyper Misao, and HIMAWARI to reach the final for the first time, while Suzume overcame Shion Kanzaki, Pom Harajuku, Shoko Nakajima, and Toga to earn her maiden finals appearance.

The winner of the tournament will join an elite group in TJPW history. Of the 10 women to have won the Princess Cup since its creation in 2014, seven have also gone on to win the Princess of Princess Championship.

Should Tatsumi win on Sunday, she would join Miyu Yamashita, Yuka Sakazaki, and Miu Watanabe as the fourth woman to win the tournament after previously holding the title. For Suzume, meanwhile, a victory would further strengthen her position as one of the promotion’s top stars.
