Swerve Strickland is dealing with injury.

On the August 13 edition of Dynamite, it was stated on-screen that Swerve Strickland had been seen by AEW’s medical staff with regard to a knee injury. This came at a time in which the 34-year-old was coming off the back of feuds with both The Death Riders and The Young Bucks, so fans wouldn’t be blamed for thinking that this inclusion in the show was part of a storyline. However, it now seems as if the knee injury hinted at for Swerve is very much a genuine thing.

Per Fightful Select, it’s believe that Swerve Strickland is working with a torn meniscus, an injury he first sustained way back in 2019.

Fightful Select confirmed that Swerve is actually working with a torn meniscus, and that it isn’t anything new. He’s actually had a tear in his meniscus since 2019 when he was training at the Performance Center.”

In terms of what this may mean for the future, the report goes on to indicate that Strickland may need surgery and time off from AEW.

“AEW sources indicated that Jacksonville Jaguars medical is actually helping him recover from the injury. There is a possibility he could require surgery and time off.”

Strickland is still set for a huge clash with Kazuchika Okada over the AEW Unified Championship at Forbidden Door in London. After he was reportedly initially set for time off after All In, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the star step away from the ring following this Sunday’s pay-per-view to focus on recovery.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Swerve Strickland as soon as we hear more
