The Butcher Says He’s Still Under Contract With AEW, Waiting To Be Used

The Butcher provides an update on his AEW status.
The February 22, 2025 edition of AEW Collision was the last time All Elite Wrestling fans saw The Butcher on their television screens, and he has now opened up about his current status within the promotion.
Speaking to Youngstown Radio, The Butcher provided an update on his AEW status, revealing that he remains under contract with the promotion and is waiting for a call to return to television.
“I mean, still under contract. The big thing is Blade had his back fused, so as a tag team wrestler, how many times can you send a guy out there in singles matches and then they lose? You kind of have to shelve them. I kind of understand and try to be humble with that. It does seep into your head, ‘Dude, what did I do wrong?’ ‘Cause no one talks to you. It’s not like they’re checking up on me every week going, ‘How are you doing, dude?’ It’s just, ‘We’ll call you when we need you.’ That is kind of like a head f*ck. At the same time, I’m so grateful because I get paid every two weeks, and Blade is now healthy, so we can work indies and stuff like that. Just waiting for a call for a return. Hopefully, it happens soon. I know there are a lot of injuries going on right now in AEW so that’s usually an indicator that they’re probably going to bring some guys back who have been sitting.”

The Butcher’s tag team partner The Blade was sidelined with a spine injury in early 2024 and underwent surgery later that year in September. He returned to the ring in December last year, with the pair having since reunited on the independent scene.
With the pair’s last televised outing as a duo coming in January 2024, it is unclear whether there are plans for The Butcher & The Blade to return to AEW television at the time of writing.
Elsewhere, in related contract news, current AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla has reportedly signed a new multi-year deal with AEW. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for The Butcher as soon as we hear more
