It’s said that Tony Khan turned down talks with CW to host Ring of Honor TV.

Last night, PWInsider broke the news that CW had struck a deal with the WWE which secured them the rights to NXT, something which is set to begin in October of 2024 and last for at least five years. The agreement is set to deliver the biggest increase in media licensing for the developmental brand in its history.

Now, following CW’s capture of NXT, it’s been revealed by Haus of Wrestling that Tony Khan was approached by channel executives last year with regards to bringing Ring of Honor to the network. However, it was said that Khan declined the opportunity to enter talks until it comes time for AEW’s rights to be up for grabs as this is likely to give him more leverage in any potential negotiations.

“Haus of Wrestling has learned that a high-level CW executive approached Khan at the LA Forum in June 2022 about bringing Ring of Honor content to the network. From what we understand, Khan did not pursue talks with The CW as he refuses to seriously entertain new deals for ROH until AEW TV rights are in play, which will be in 2024. Khan feels that by waiting, he will have more options and leverage in the marketplace.”

The report notes that two other notable wrestling companies had also been in talks with CW recently, but who exactly this was in reference to is unknown. For now, Ring of Honor’s weekly product remains on the Honor Club subscription service.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on talks between Tony Khan and CW as we hear more.
